Mircales Today

Look at the article in the Independent. Could this be classed as a Miracle? Try to think about the definitions provided by Hume, Holland & Swinburne when making your decision. The examiners are always impressed if you can discuss modern examples and if you mention this is class Mr Davies may even smile!

Near Death Experience

A2 students want to have a range of examples to impress the examiner? Look at this website and see if you can select some case studies which match the criteria established by Moody and Ring! Remember when questioning the validity we need establish that it is an authentic and reliable religious experience! Hope the revision is going well! Mr Davies.

Who killed Teresa?

Year 9 students can use MTN Publisher to help produce their newspaper article on 'Who killed Teresa on a Rio de Janeiro street'.

This is the final assessment for Year 9 and will help determine their final Key Stage 3 Geography level. In order to achieve higher levels in this assessment, students need to explain and evaluate the push and pull factors that lead to rural-urban migration. Students could even think about solutions to the problems of rural-urban migration in Brazil.

Create a nation

NationStates
is a free nation simulation game. Build a nation and run it according to your own warped political ideals. Care for your people or deliberately oppress them. Join the United Nations or remain a rogue state. It's really up to you.

Year 8 students are currently studying 'development' and so this website may be of interest.

Christian Aid - Case Study

Year 8 are currently working on an exciting project designing their own Aid Agency / Charity. Have a look at the clip to show you the type of work Christian Aid does to give some ideas. I am looking forward to marking these projects and I am sure the Class of 2010 will produce some awesome work!

Church Assessment!

Year 7 have visited our local Church - St.Stephens. In order to acheive level 5 & 6 in their assessment students need to compare different Churches. The website below will take you on virtual tours of different Churches and is an excellent resource for those students aiming to achieve level 5 or 6.

Miracles?

AS Students! Want to impress the RS06 Examiner? Use a case study when discussing Miracles. Use the website above to try gather information about Miracles in Christianity today! Good Luck!

Cartoon Geography

You can use ToonDoo to create your own cartoons. Try and create a cartoon with a geographical (historical or religious) theme or to illustrate a concept.

This idea came from the GCSE Geography Pilot Blog of Radical Geography. There are several Geography examples shown on this blog.

Stop Disasters!

GCSE Geographers should check out the above website (Stop Disasters!) to learn more about managing hazards and the ISDR (International Strategy for Disaster Reduction).

Play the interactive game where you plan and construct an environment for a community affected by natural hazards.

Barcode Yourself

Year 8 Geography students, in particular, might want to look at the above website that allows you to produce a bar code for yourself.

Once you have produced your bar code, print a copy and make a note of your worth in $. To do this you must scan your bar code – click scan in the menu.

Try producing a bar code for someone living in a different country
e.g. Bangladesh.

Look at the difference in 'worth'. Why might such a difference exist?

Also check out Lifeswitch - A ChristianAid site that puts you in the place of a real individual from around the world.

Who's the real fashion victim?

Year 9 Geography students will be learning about the global fashion industry in Term 5. This unit will focus on globalisation, in which what happens in one place can affect people and places everywhere.

Would Primark's cheap clothes be so attractive to the queue of excitable young fashionistas shown in the clip if they knew the huge cost of those rock bottom prices?

Check out Andrea Thompson's report for the Daily Mail on the women who are paying the price for our pursuit of cheap fashion.

Ned Flanders, creationist

Evolution or creation?

What has this clip from the Simpsons got to do with the debate?

Holocaust Survivors

Last term Year 9 visited Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre. You can learn more about the Holocaust using You Tube.

There are many stories from survivors of the Holocaust on You Tube. One example is given above.

Protecting Nemo!

The beauty of the coral reefs is matched only by their delicacy, making them particularly vulnerable in our increasingly polluted world.

The final Geography assessment task in Year 7 requires you to create a brochure supporting eco-tourism on the Great Barrier Reef.

The following links should help you with this task:
National Geographic
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
Coral Cay Conservation
