Currently in year 9 we are looking at religion and values.
The forthcoming year 9 assessment will be around the concept of " A Good Life."
The video above is a parable about a good life and will assist to refresh your understanding on what makes a good life.
Referring to one religious perspective, explain what is considered a good life within the teachings of the religion

In Islam, muslims are supposed to have a life that is content. They should have a job that earns enough money to be content and support their family and themselves. It is also important to be thoughtful and follow the religion. Money is not greatly important to live a happy life but it is needed, to survive.
I also think that money is not hugely important, as it can sometimes take control over people and make them a different person, but I do believe in luxuries and it is nice to have it sometimes- within reason.

hey
Money means alot to some people becuase in Islam you have to give Zakat. You gice money to the poor through the money you have earned. Some people who are unemployed would love money to help them and their families and they would also give an amount of that money to the poor.
habiba..x..
In Islam, a good life would be having the right amount of money to provide for yourself and family and follow the religion correctly. e.g. praying 5 times a day. Having too much money and not using it wisely, e.g. not giving zakat even though you have the money and it is a fardh act, would just show your greed and you would be looked down upon in the eyes of God and the good muslims who know what you have done. This would not only make your life in this world bad, bit in the hereafter it would not be great on judgement day either!

In some religons money is a big aspect of life and you sometimes have to give it away to other peoples needs(Zakat).
But money can also take control of people, but you should also have enough money to survive and life happily and have some luxaries that are yours to keep
Excellent girls I really like how you are using keyterms and making a link back to a topic from the beginning of the year. Well done. I think an important point is made about having too much money can also make you unhappy, think of a lotto winner who does not know who likes them for who they are and who is just after their money. Use these ideas in your assessment referring back to the link between religion and a persons values and I am sure you will do well. Good luck...
Most definately, living a succesful life is an ambition that we all come to agree on to achieve.
However, it has a modern agricultural development aswell. Say for example, you have have a vast growing industry (similar to idea produced through the video) and earn a lot of money due to it.
Now, with this money you could develop/ enhance your factories so they would be much bigger and therefore earn you even more money. But some people believe that you should invest your money in wiser things, that would not only benifit you, but people around you. I.e. Celebrities amongst Bill Gates. With his fortune he has created a charity taht helps people in Africa dying from diseases.
In contrast some people, who might include lottery winners, spend their money on themselves, which in term I believe this is a selfish act., and it doesn't fare well with people who are need of aid.
There are many people who live in terrible conditions, and they are human themselves, but they aren't treated like us. They don't recieve help that we do.
It's up to charities and other organisations to give support to these people. So, when you think in that perspective, you need to liv a good life, but so does the next person.
Agreeing with the comments from both Aisha and Habiba, religion plays a big part in decisions like this e.g. In Islam people pay Zakat to help people in the world. And also, muslims there have to get a job that earns enough money to live a comfortable life with their families, but it isn't as important as some of the other key things in life.

I think too much money is bad but in England it is needed to survive, for food and to keep a roof over your head. I think it is an excellant part of relgion to pay something like Zakat (like in the muslim faith) to help people that can't earn their own money, because they will be struggling to survive. But, it's still nice to be able to treat your self once in a while !

In the religion Islam muslims have to do differnet things in there life and if they do these things they they will have a good life. One of these things is that if they have got enough money to feed and buy clothes for them and there family then they must then give a certain percent of there money to somebody that needs the money more than they do. Also i think if people have too much money then they don't know what to do with it and so they just spend it on anything and don't think of people that might really need the money.
