Politicians have often spoken of wanting to foster an 'inclusive society'.
How might we ensure that this society includes its young people?
You might consider:
- how older people communicate with the young.
- what older and younger age groups do in common.
- how youn people can be given a stake in the community.

Young people can be given more say in society to make sure they are included. However, there are barriers to this as older people can speak down to young people so they do not relate well. If this is removed and younger people are spoke to, they can give many valid points of view which can help change society for the better.
To enable young people to have more stake in the community the voting age could be reduced so that younger people are able to vote and put their ideas accross with the adult polls this will increase young poeples interaction with politics. On the other hand young people may not understand the voting system or the politics they are voting about and so it may be difficult for younger people to give informed choices on votes.

To incorporate young people into society as a whole is a task made more difficult by severe media bias. Currently and in recent times tabloids have leaped upon what they portray as a nation of ‘ASBO youths’. Statistically this is incorrect and many studies show that people severely overestimate how much crime is committed by young people. This stigmatism creates a barrier of communication between the young and the old. It is difficult to include young people in society if they are pushed to the fringes.
Alternatively young people are given opportunities to give to society, 18 to 25 year olds make up a high percentage of volunteers, and this helps make for a more inclusive society. The young people are contributing to society and acceptance and community spirit should result.

Additional points could include
> what facilities are available for young people within not only the community but on a larger scale for example 'BKYP' youth politics
> what responsibilites are given to young children and why there is such a divide between the two age groups what is expected from young people and what they get in return.
We can ensure that this society includes its young people by giving them a stake in the community. We could have an youth parliment where they could make decisions and discuss their ideas.
